Kindergarten

Children bring with them a unique kind of curiosity, energy and zest of life. We believe it is our role to provide a kindergarten learning environment that facilitates the best possible place to grow, develop, and learn. A play-based program in an environment that is trusting and encouraging will enable each child to feel comfortable enough to take "risks" to learn, enabling them to reach their potential.

We will endeavour to plan, adapt and/or change instruction to meet the particular needs of each child. A variety of learning experiences using various instructional strategies will be implemented to meet many different styles of learning. We are committed to the growth of skills and attitudes in each developmental area (social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and creative). We want your child's first year in school to be the best beginning filled with happy and successful experiences.

French Immersion

Designed for students whose first language is not French, this bilingual education program is open to students who live in the eastern end of Parkland School Division. École Broxton Park School provides programming for students from Kindergarten to Grade 9. Graduates of the program can participate easily in French conversations, move on to take French Immersion courses in high school, take post-secondary courses with French as the language of instruction, and accept employment with French as the language of work. Our French Immersion Kindergarten program is highlighted in the video below. For more information, visit our French Immersion page.

Full-Time French Immersion Kindergarten Program

École Broxton Park School offers an optional full-time (every day, all day) French Immersion Kindergarten program. This program is a collaboration between our school and École Meridian Heights School, our French Immersion partner school.

Full-time Kindergarten operates on a cost-recovery basis, running only if there are enough registrations and deposits. The program costs approximately $450/month per child, and a deposit of $900 is due at the time of registration. Payments can be made via the Powerschool parent portal or in person at the school office in cash.

Registration for the program typically remains open until mid-April prior to the start of the school year. If more than 23 students register for full-time Kindergarten, a draw will be used as a fair means to determine which students will be accepted into the program. If an insufficient number of students has enrolled by the registration deadline, the program will not go forward and all deposits will be returned. Parents and guardians will receive confirmation of deposit receipt and enrolment shortly after the registration deadline has passed and the draw (if applicable) has been made.

As full-time Kindergarten is a program of choice, transportation costs are not included in the program fee, and bus service is subject to availability. If requested, once we have confirmed your child's enrolment in this program, we will work with PSD Transportation Services to determine their rider eligibility. If we are unable to provide transportation, any deposits will be returned. For more information about rider eligibility, please visit the Parkland School Division Transportation page.

Kindergarten Readiness

One of the questions we are frequently asked by parents is "How can I best prepare my child for Kindergarten?" The video below addresses several ways in which you and your child can ready yourselves for Kindergarten at École Broxton Park School.
