Assignment Policy

Assignments are to be completed to the best of the students ability and submitted by the due date assigned of the respective teacher. If a student does not complete and/or submit the assignment they will receive a Not Handed In (NHI) on PowerSchool. Incomplete or absent assignments will affect students' class average. 

Assignment deadlines will be set at two month intervals. The last Friday of every second month will be the deadline for students to submit assignments for that 2 month period (with the exception of Christmas Break and June which will be earlier). Assignments will not be accepted or marked after the deadline, the NHI in PowerSchool will stand. 

The cut off dates for the 2023-2024 school year will be October 27th, December 22nd, February 23rd, April 26th, and June 7th. 

In order to support your child in taking responsibility for their learning and academic expectations, the teachers and school staff will:

• support directed learning time for students to complete missing assignments prior to each deadline
• Include options for replacement assignments if the student shows good faith in their other assignment work and demonstrates use of teacher time for support.

Parents can support their children by actively checking PowerSchool to have up to date information on their child's progress and any missing assignments. They can also communicate to teachers their timeline for their child to hand in an assignment if it was not completed on the due date to ensure deadlines are met. 

If your child has one or more missing assignments you will receive a general email from their teacher prior to the deadlines. Students and families are encouraged to regularly check PowerSchool as this is the main form of communication regarding assignments and grades.
