Kindergarten

We are truly privileged to witness children grow, learn and develop each day. They bring a unique sense of curiosity, energy and excitement for life. Our goal is to provide a nurturing environment where they can thrive and reach their full potential. In a space that is trusting and supportive, children feel safe to take risks, explore and embrace new learning opportunities.

We recognize that every child is unique, with their own experiences, interests, strengths and needs. That’s why we are committed to adapting our teaching strategies to suit each child’s individual learning style. We offer a wide range of experiences to support development across social, emotional, physical, intellectual and creative areas.

We encourage you to visit the kindergarten whenever you can and to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Your child’s progress is important to us, and we want you to feel well-informed and confident in their journey. Our aim is to ensure that your child’s first year of school is a joyful and successful experience, setting the stage for many more to come.

Program guide Kindergarten calendar Kindergarten overview

French Immersion

Designed for students whose first language is not French, this bilingual education program is open to students who live in the eastern end of Parkland School Division. École Broxton Park School provides French programming for students from Kindergarten to Grade 9. Students will learn all the Alberta curriculum, but 100% in French. Your kindergarten student will be immersed in the French language through repetition, routines and teaching, allowing them to gradually build their language skills. Students in French Immersion do not begin the English curriculum until Grade 3.

Graduates of the program can participate easily in French conversations, move on to take French Immersion courses in high school, take post-secondary courses with French as the language of instruction, and accept employment with French as the language of work. If you would like more information on the program, we encourage you to attend our February open house or contact the school office to be connected to an administrator who can answer your questions.

Full-Time French Immersion Kindergarten Program

École Broxton Park School offers an optional full-time (every day, all day) French Immersion Kindergarten program. This program is a collaboration between our school and École Meridian Heights School, our French Immersion partner school.

Full-time Kindergarten operates on a cost-recovery basis, running only if there are enough registrations and deposits. The program costs approximately $450/month per child, and a deposit of $900 is due at the time of registration. Payments can be made via the Powerschool parent portal or in person at the school office in cash.

Registration for the program typically remains open until mid-April prior to the start of the school year. If more than 23 students register for full-time Kindergarten, a draw will be used as a fair means to determine which students will be accepted into the program. If an insufficient number of students has enrolled by the registration deadline, the program will not go forward and all deposits will be returned. Parents and guardians will receive confirmation of deposit receipt and enrolment shortly after the registration deadline has passed and the draw (if applicable) has been made.

As full-time Kindergarten is a program of choice, transportation costs are not included in the program fee, and bus service is subject to availability. If requested, once we have confirmed your child's enrolment in this program, we will work with PSD Transportation Services to determine their rider eligibility. If we are unable to provide transportation, any deposits will be returned. For more information about rider eligibility, visit Parkland School Division's Transportation page.
