Beginning Band registration opens

An after-school program is opening to Spruce Grove students and is hoping to attract some aspiring musicians.
The Beginning Band, an after-school option, is looking for students interested in learning an instrument and joining a concert band. The after-school option will be run on Wednesdays and organizers are looking for students with or without musical experience.
The Beginning Band will welcome students from Spruce Grove schools in Grades 6-9 to join the band, which will be hosted at Copperhaven School on Wednesdays from 4pm-5pm.
It is a long term commitment, running from October until the end of April, that teaches students the fundamentals and proper playing techniques of band instruments.
Are you interested in learning how to play an instrument and joining an after school band? Grades 6-9 students, of all experience levels, are welcome to join and will be taught how to play woodwind, brass, or percussion instruments in a group setting.
Students are expected to attend all classes and performances as the success of the group depends on the presence of all its members.
The first practice is scheduled for Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at 4pm at Copperhaven School.
The base course fee for the after-school program is $25 per student, which covers music and supplies. Students may choose to bring their own instrument from home, rent or buy their own instrument.
Additional costs will apply for field trips and clinics that happen outside of normal program times.
